Acting Memory & Character Workshop: The most important workshop for actors
How to know your lines and character better than ever without hours wasted memorizing text.
How to know your lines and character better than ever without hours wasted memorizing text.
For the first five years of my acting career, I did what most actors do. I spent hours saying my lines out loud over and over again until I could say them backwards. Literally. Until I could say my lines backwards! Sometimes I would still go into an audition nervous and forget a line here or there. I also found I often had a "rhythm" when I learned my lines that was hard to break. This lead to me having a hard time taking direction. One day I gave up. That was the best thing I ever did.
I entered "research mode" and talked to Actors who work full time as actors. Many were award winning and on hit television shows from Halifax to Vancouver and beyond. Through the years I talked to award winning actors in both Canada and the United States and found a common thread. Most don't memorize their lines! That's not part of their "method". In this workshop I will teach you the connection with emotion and memory along with a lot of techniques I learned in studying both successful actors and learning memory techniques. |

Testimonials
"The Acting Memory Workshop went beyond my expectations. Joshua is a gifted actor and teacher who took the time
to learn about each of his students memory styles and guided us in the right direction. I will be using the memory techniques I learned in the future and I can guarantee they have made me a better actor. The workshop not only tests your memory, but encourages the students to break out of their comfort zone and build self-confidence. You will be challenged and you will succeed! The price is excellent and well worth the skills you leave with, I highly recommend this workshop." Actor - Rachael Whitzman, Nova Scotia
"I want to thank you for teaching me a whole new way to learn my lines. Not only a new way, but a better way. I could never go back to memorizing lines again! I also want to thank you for showing me how to rehearse for an audition. That was a definite "aha" moment for me. In the past, When rehearsing, I would never let go of my emotions for fear of desensitizing myself, and giving a lack luster audition. Now, I realize my best work is achieved by letting go and allowing those emotions to release during rehearsals. I felt so powerful giving my monologue the second time. Truly a breakthrough for me!" ... Actor - Bernadette Serbu, Nova Scotia
“ Joshua’s workshop on memory not only taught me a new way to approach learning the text of a script, but also how to better emotionally connect with the character. I highly recommend it!”... Actor - Paula Feener, Nova Scotia
"I recently completed Joshua’s Acting Memory Workshop and was amazed. Simply amazed. He was able to teach us a new way of looking at a script and getting it into our brains and develop it very quickly. Impressive and highly recommended. I used this technique recently when I was given 2 days notice that I was auditioning for 3 different roles. It works, plain and simple. So do yourself a favour and take this phenomenal workshop as soon as you can."...Actor / Voice Actor - Dale Willman, Nova Scotia
