        YOUR ACTING COACH

        Picture

My background is quite unique, since I am not just an Actor and an Acting Coach. I am also a Director, Producer and Writer for films. So I have over a decade of experience both in front and behind the camera.

How does this help you? Instead of having an Acting Coach who tells you just an Actor's perspective of how to act and how to create a successful career, you get the opinion and perspective of an Actor, Producer, Director and Writer! I have seen things Actors have done that they believe are great and help the strength of their performance, but in fact have really hurt their career. It is my goal to help Actors achieve their goals and to give the information I have learned that has helped make me a successful Actor.

        My Story:
I have been in front and behind the camera for over 15 years. I started out as many actors do, in theater. But very quickly moved into the film and television industry where I gained immediate success. My first role was as a Principle character in the CBS movie of the week Bluemoon. After that I continued to work on television series and films but quickly fell in love with the “behind the scenes” process of filmmaking. I then spent over six years learning how to produce, direct, shoot and edit for film, while still acting and learning my original trade. In 2006 I added one more skill as a Voice Artist and to date have performed in over forty television, radio and Internet commercials. I attribute my success in acting to the behind the scenes work I do as a Director, Producer, Editor and Writer. In these positions I have learned what actors were consistently doing right and doing wrong in every take.

2011 - I have moved to Vancouver! It's been six months since my move and I don't even believe the success I've had. The recipe for success definitely is hard work, unwavering faith, a bit of luck and confidence. My biggest fear was being one of those Actors who says he's going to move to a big city but then moves back home because of lack of success, fear, demotivation etc....I basically refused for any of that to happen which I think was part of the reason for my continuing success out here. In six months I have signed with two great Agencies - one for On Camera and one for Voice. I have auditioned against Actors who I normally watch on television and have landed some great work and worked with amazing studios. The ladder is still quite high but thanks to the tremendous support of everyone both in Vancouver and the support I get from back home in Halifax, it's one I'll keep climbing (cheesy but true). Just to give some perspective for those who are unfamiliar with moving to a bigger film industry in a bigger city, the normal rate of someone landing an Agent is about a year. And landing any acting work before that or even in the first six months after, is rare. It happens. But it's rare. So in six months I've gone past all my goals and set new ones. There's no way I could have done this without the support from everyone and a bit of lucky.
